Resurrection of the Swiss Cup

Resurrection of the Swiss Cup

01 Oct 2014 | Andreas Reiner

After disappearing for 42 years, the Swiss Hockey Cup celebrates it’s comeback.

In 1972 Genève-Servette won the last Cup in a two game series against HC Ambri-Piotta. For this years edition, all 22 National League A and B Clubs qualified automatically while the 10 League 1 teams went through qualification games. The winner of each game advances to the next round. The lower seeded teams have the home advantage and for the first round, the games allow local derbys which should be quite interesting for both the fans and players. Here are the pairings of tonight’s games:

HC Franches-Montagnes - EHC Biel

EHC Thun - SC Bern

EHC Brandis - SC Langenthal

GCK Lions - ZSC Lions

EHC Winterthur - EV Zug

EHC Dübendorf - Kloten Flyers

HC Biasca - Rapperswil-Jona Lakers

HC Thurgau - HC Davos

HC Uni Neuchâtel - HC Fribourg-Gottéron

HC Ajoie - Genève-Servette HC

HC La Chaux-de-Fonds - Lausanne HC

HC Sion-Nendaz 4 Vallées - HC Lugano

EHC Visp - HC Red Ice

EHC Burgdorf - EHC Olten

EHC Wiki-Münsingen - SCL Tigers

GDT Bellinzona - HC Ambri-Piotta
