Mark Owuya and Edwin Hedberg both playing in SHL has both been suspended for doping violations.
Mark Owuya, goalkeeper of Luleå Hockey has been suspended for one year even if his test was negative. The reason for the suspension is instead that Owuya broke the rules of the test by going to the toilet alone without the supervisor attending before he did his test.
Owuya himself thinks the suspension is a joke and claims that everything is just a misunderstanding and the there was no time for a test as he hadn't finished his practice. He will appeal against the suspension.
MODO's Edwin Hedberg is suspended for six months after testing positive for sibutramin. Hedberg tested positive in February and when waiting for the decision about suspension Hedberg chose to suspend himself in April and thus his suspension will end already in October.
Hedberg will also appeal against his suspension and says that he is shocked by the findings. Sibutramin is a substance used for banting and Hedberg is a rather small player and it's nothing he would aim to use.
