Skellefteå runs over Färjestad

Skellefteå is very close to their second consecutive Swedish championship title after winning the first three finals with a goal difference of 17-3!

They seem unstoppable at the moment, Skellefteå is so close to defending their championship title after demolishing Färjestad 8-1 in the third final and now have four chances to win the fourth win to secure the title.

Even if Färjestad opened the scoring today by Pontus Åberg but it was never any question about it. Färjestad got two power play chances in the first period but both ended with a goal for Skellefteå. Skellefteå had one power play and scored.

At first Viktor Arvidsson stole the puck after leaving the penalty bench and raced all alone to beat Pettersson-Wentzel with a quick shot. 2-1 came when Jimmie Ericsson scored his eleventh playoff goal from the slot on a PP. And in the last minute of the first period Oscar Sundqvist stole the puck shorthanded, at almost exactly the same spot as Arvidsson, and on a quick breakaway he scored with a high shot.

The playoff king Joakim Lindström made it 4-1 and assisted on 5-1 in the second period to secure the win already in the second period. But Skellefteå kept on playing and three goals in the first three minutes of the third period gave Skellefteå a demolishing 8-1 win. The highest scoring margin ever in a final in the history of SHL and Elitserien.

It feels very likely that Skellefteå can celebrate on Monday sometime after 19 because how can Färjestad come back from this?
