Freezers losing game, temper and Wolf

Freezers losing game, temper and Wolf

While Köln wins Game 4 with lots of pressure and patience, Hamburg's David Wolf loses his temper and will probably be out for the rest of the series.

ERC Ingolstadt – Hamburg Freezers 5-2 (Playoff 3-1)

The game started off with the same intensity we have seen in previous games. But in the first period goals were unheard of until Morten
Madsen had a break-away and got hold back by a defender. He converted the penalty shot to give Hamburg a 1-0 lead. In the second period Ingolstadt should have a few power-play situations, which they used efficiently to turn around the game. John Laliberte and Derek Hahn set the game to 2-1 Ingolstadt before Jerome Flaake could tie it up again shortly before the second break with a blast from the left circle.  It came all down to the last period and Ingolstadt’s Ziga Jeglic got the 3-2 after 3 minutes on a break-away, in which he nicely manoeuvred past Caron. Hamburg’s hopes were slowly fading when Travis Turnbull scored on yet another power-play with 6 minutes to go, but shortly after that David Wolf should not only decide the game, but maybe also the series when he lost his temper. First he gave his opponent a hit to the head, just to knock out Benedikt Schopper afterwards, who skated up to him, with two fists to the head. He got a match penalty and will probably not return in this series, which is unfortunate for his team as he is the leading scorer.

Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg – Kölner Haie 2-3 (Playoff 1-3)

Köln came out flying and put a lot of pressure on Wolfsburg. Consequently they scored the first goal through Chris Minard on a power-play
after 8:35 minutes. But then the game turned around despite the Sharks still being the team having all the chances. But Sebastian Furchner and Ramzi Abid were more efficient and established a 2-1 lead for the Grizzlies. Now it was a game of patience for Köln and it should be successful. With 2 minutes left in the second period Marcel Müller got a rebound and put it in the open net from a
very sharp angle. In the last period it was Daniel Tjaernqvist, who put the Sharks ahead at the 52:43 mark, which could not be answered any more by Wolfsburg. On Thursday Köln can win the series now at home.
