Linköping last team to semi final

Linköping last team to semi final

Christian Engstrand made 24 saves for the shutout when Linköping won the seventh and decisive quarter final game versus Frölunda.

Linköping is one of the best offensive teams in SHL but has had problems with the defence. But in the most important game it worked very well and Linköping blanked Frölunda and won 2-0.

Linköping is now one of four teams in the semi finals even if they only finished ninth in the regular season while second placed Frölunda are eliminated.

Jonas Almtorp gave LHC the lead in the first period before Kent McDonell doubled the lead in the second period when Linköping finally made a power play goal in the quarter finals.

Frölunda pushed forward for an equalizer but were never really close to tie the game against a tight defence. Robin Figren had the best chance but lost control of the puck when he was in the clear.

In the semi finals Linköping will play Skellefteå, big favourites to win the title as regular season winners and defending champions. In the other semi final Växjö plays Färjestad.
