KHL Disciplinary Committee suspended for 11 games Ak Bars defender Grigory Panin for his charge on Medvescak Zagreb forward Matt Murley during the Ak Bars 5-3  victory on October 17. Committee punished him as severe as possible for such violation with a 10 games suspension. Because the player has received game misconduct penalty - the second of the season - it will have the optional automatic suspension for one match. Thus, Panin miss 11 games. Player received also a fine of more than 2.5 million rubles.

"We regret to say that at the start of the season the number of hockey injuries caused by blows to the head, charges on board, knee and  attack from behind significantly increased. For our committee is very alarming, thus Sports and Disciplinary Committee will now adopt a much stricter approach to the imposition of additional penalties related to violations that result in serious injury for a player. We understand that the teams have a heavy schedule and continues to fight for the playoffs. But this should not lead to excessive roughness on the ice and does not justify those players who commit rash acts and cause serious injury to colleagues." commented Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of Sports Valeri Kamensky

"I believe that the 11-games suspension  it's an adequate punishment in this situation. I would like first of all to wish a speedy recover to Medveščak player Matt Murley. This episode does not have anything to do with hockey. The attitude of  Panin present rudeness and disorderly conduct. In addition to the suspension there will still be a monetary penalty.Under the rules of the KHL, according to the decision of KFOR, Panin will have to pay more than 2.5 million rubles"  said KHL Vice-President Vladimir Shalaev
