Ukraine promotes to division 1A after being unbeaten on home ice.
Being a former Elite group team it was a big disappointment for Ukraine to play in Division 1B. But next year they will be in division 1 after winning the group with 14 out of 15 points.
But it was a close race and Ukraine needed penalty shots to beat third place Netherlands who failed to repeat their success from the Olympic Qualifiers. And on the last day Ukraine was down 0-2 to second placed Poland but managed to turn the game around and win 4-3 for group victory. Oleg Timchenko scored three points in the decisive game and was also the top scorer of the tournament.
In the bottom Estonia had no chance losing 3-12 against Lithuania in the decisive game for relegation. Notable from that game was that both Aimas Fiscevas (six goals!) and Daniel Bogdziul scored eight points. Lithuania finished fifth after Romania.
