"Fight for more

Lugano 2 Zug 1 (1-1 in series)

The team of Larry Huras defeated Zug 2-1 and equalized in the best-of-seven series at 1-1. The last five play-offs games Lugano had lost in front of their home crowd. The last home win dated March 2009, a 3-2 win after a penalty shoot-out against Davos. Now, thanks to Stefan Ulmer, Lugano finally won a play-off home game. The defender from Austria score a goal and one assist. Mention to Finnish goalie Jussi Markannen with 36 saves.

Biel 1 Fribourg 4 (0-2 in series)

Qualifying winners Fribourg prove that they deserved the first place in regular season. Once again Fribourg took an early lead in the game. This time it took just eleven minutes (compared to 15 on Saturday) until Fribourg led 2-0. The LNA head disciplinarian judge Steimann , tomorrow morning will have some work to do. In a very physical game three players(Muchmurphy and Suter for Biel and Lauper for Fribourg) deserved a game misconduct. A fourth one can join these three players tomorrow, Sebastien Schilt for an irregular check. Like game 1 Fribourg's goalie Benjamin Conz was the MVP of the game with 37 saves.

Davos 3 Zürich 5 (1-1 in series)

Zürich picked up a 5-3 victory at Davos. The decision was made only in the final two minutes, goals made by Mark Bastl and Patrik Bärtschi. Zurich deserved the win mostly because of the strong reaction in the third period, after a 3-3 tie in first 40 minutes. Forward Zürich player Mark Bastl was the men of the game with the winning goal.

Geneva 5 Bern 2 (1-1 in series)

Geneva reacted well against Bern after a  0:4 loss in game 1. The game was marked by many failures. The two teams had a flying start with a goal for witch one in the first three minutes. More physical Geneva controlled well the game and after the 3-1 made by John Fritsche, Bern was never in position to return the score in his favor.

Mention to Ivo Rütheman. The 36 years-old Rüthemann is only the fourth player after Gil Montandon, Martin Steinegger and Ronnie Rueger to play the impressive mark of 1000 NLA games. Since his debut in 1994 with Davos the Swiss player scored 306 goals and 389 assists.

"fight for LNA" A version

Lakers 1 Ambri 2 (OT) (0-2 in series)

After today's victory, Ambri made a serious option for stay in LNA next season leading the series 2-0. The Lakers led the game against Ambri-Piotta until the minute 43. Until that moment Lakers create more chances to score. But then again if you don't score in your amount of chances you will end up paying. And that's exactly what Ambri did, first by Richard Park at minute 43 and then by Marco Pedretti at the minute 77, three left for the shutout. MVP for Nolan Schaefer with 40 saves.

Langnau 2 Kloten 3 (SO) (1-1 series)

Last Saturday, all five five Kloten players failed in the penalty shootout. This time three of them put puck on goal, giving a 3-2 victory for the visitor and put the series in order. Mention to the goalies Bäumle and Rüegger with 37 saves.

"fight for LNA" B version

Lausanne 3 Ajoie 6 (1-1 in series)

Ajoie responded well after suffering a heavy defeat in the first act of the semi-finals. In Malley, the guest team won 6-3 and tied the series. Largely beaten at home Sunday (6-1), Ajoie raised their heads and proved that their first place in the regular season was not usurped.  Ajoie mainly demonstrated a superb realism transforming a maximum opportunities and raising doubts in Lausanne, perhaps too confident after the first meeting. They also were able to play well without the top-scorer James Desmarais. Bernie Sigrist with two goald and one assist was the best player on the ice.

Olten 3 Langenthal 2 (OT) (1-1 series)

Olten's coach Scott Beattie took his timeout 14 seconds before the end of regular time. With six ice players, Derek Cormier tied this game at.. 59:59. Somehow,  the Canadian player put the puck on right spot. This goal gave home team a extra motivation in overtime. And at minute 77 former NHL player and Swiss legend Paul di Pietro scored the third goal in a power-play. This series is going to be a long one.
