Brynäs secures the playoffs spot

Brynäs beats AIK 1-0 to ensure that the Stockholm team stays behind them in the Elitserien standings. One round remains but it is already decided which teams make the playoffs and which are sent down to Kvalserien.

With a win against Brynäs AIK would still have a chance to make it to the quarter finals, but the guests won the most important game of the season. Ryan Gunderson scored the only goal of the game at 51:35 when he was assisted by Calle Järnkrok and Johan Harju on a power play situation. JohanHolmqvist in Brynäs made 24 saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season.

"It's incredibly relieving obviously", says the Brynäs coach Tommy Jonsson C More."We have been under huge pressure, combined with injuries I think this is very strong by us".

MODO Hockey  -  Timrå IK 0 - 1
(0-0, 0-0, 0-0, 0-0, 0-1)
Timrå beat MODO 1-0 in the shootout but will still end in the eleventh spot as Växjö beat Linköping. Timrå's keeper made 45 saves during the 65 minutes of play and then stopped both MODO's penalty shots while Radek Smolenak and Niklas Nordgren scored for Timrå.

Luleå HF  -  Färjestads BK 3 - 4
(0-0, 1-1, 2-2, 0-0, 0-1)
After Färjestads win they took over the third place from Luleå, but with one round remaining both teams have the same number of points and the same goal difference. Magnus Nygren scored the winner in the shootout. David Rundqvist, son of Färjestad legend Thomas Rundqvist, played his first Elitserien game and got an assist.

Linköpings HC  -  Växjö Lakers HC 1 - 2
(0-1, 0-0, 1-1)
Two former Linköping players made sure Växjö beat Linköping to secure a spot in next year's Elitserien. Jan Hlavac got an assist and the game-winning goal while Fredrik Norrena in the net made 20 saves.

HV 71  -  Rögle BK 3 - 1
(2-0, 0-1, 1-0)
HV71 stays on the second place in the league after the 3-1 win over 12th placed Rögle. Daniel Spang, Oscar Sundh and Marcus Nilson scored the goals for the home team. Mike Iggulden for the guests.

Frölunda HC  -  Skellefteå AIK 2 - 1
(1-1, 0-0, 0-0, 1-0)
Frölunda beat the regular season winner Skellefteå in overtime at home in Frölundaborg. Mathis Olimb scored the winning goal at 61:06.
