Augsburg unthrones the Sharks

The Augsburger Panther were the first team of this DEL team to win against the last unbeaten side Kölner Haie.
Augsburg earned a three-goal lead until the begin of the third period through Peter MacArthur, John Zeiler and TJ Trevelyan. A double by Chris Minard came too late for the guests. Both teams now are tied at 19 points but Augsburg has one game less played.
The Panthers also benefited from the loss of the Adler Mannheim in Hamburg. The local Freezers played already with Jamie Benn who recently joined the team for the time of the lockout. Matt Pettinger had opened the score for Hamburg at 11:16 before another NHLer, Marcel Goc of the Florida Panthers, scored the 1-1 for Mannheim in the middle period. Jerome Flaake earned the game winner for the Freezers late at 54:11.
In an absolutely crazy game the Eisbären Berlin won 6-5 in Nürnberg. The hosts were in front 1-0, 2-1 and 4-2 against Polar Bears who played still without NHL stars Claude Giroux and Daniel Briere. With three consecutive goals Berlin had turned the result into their favour until 50:14. When Steven Reinprecht made it 5-5 at 58:19 everyone expected the match to go into overtime but with 36 seconds left to play Danish international Mads Christensen won all three points for Berlin - it was his second strike of the night. Both teams meet again in Nürnberg in January for the DEL Winter Game. For Berlin this win meant a huge jump in the table to the sixth position while Nürnberg stays 4th with the same amount of points - 12.
ERC Ingolstadt kept up with the top group of the DEL but lost a point against an unexperienced Düsseldorfer EG. Joe Motzko brought the Bavarians in front in the middle period but at 55:11 Justin Bostom tied the match. Just 17 seconds were played in overtime before Jared Ross scored the extra point for Ingolstadt.
Red Bull München is gaining strength. Against the Krefeld Pungine they earned their second consecutive win to leave the penultimate position. Already at 1:56 Ulrich Maurer stood at the right spot for München before Sören Sturm and Martin Buchwieser made it a three-goal lead. NHL star Christian Ehrhoff only could score the consolidation goal für Krefeld at 59:08.
Second win in the last three games for the Hannover Scorpions by defeating the Straubing Tigers away 2-0. DEL returnee Ivan Ciernik pathed the way for the win of the Lower Saxons at 24:22 in power play and Alexander Janzen made everything clear in the third period. Straubing this season is a lot of light but even more shadow, especially at home.
Iserlohn and Wolfsburg switched positions after the Roosters beat the Grizzly Adams 2-1 at home. Tobias Wörle and Michael Wolf scored for Iserlohn in the middle period while Sebastian Furchner had scored the equalizer for Wolfsburg.
