Luleå lost its first game of the season while HV71 beat AIK to take over the first place in the Elitserien standings. MODO was the first team to use an NHL lockout player but still lost to Brynäs.

Jesper Fasth scored two goals for HV71 when they beat AIK 5-3 at home to move to the top spot of the Elitserien standings. Three defensemen; Daniel Fernholm, David Petrasek and Mattias Karlsson, scored the other goals for the home team. Danish Vancouver Canucks prospect Nicklas Jensen scored both AIK’s goals. AIK is last in the standings - still without a win.

Luleå suffered the first loss of the season when they were beaten 1-0 by Färjestad. Magnus Nygren scored the goal on power play with 6:15 remaining of the game. Alexander Salak in Färjestad’s net only needed to make 13 saves to earn the shutout. Johan Gustafsson in Luleå’s net made 33 saves.

MODO decided to use Alexander Steen and was the first team to break the agreement between the clubs not to use NHL lockout players after the agreement was ruled illegal. The addition of Steen didn’t help much. Brynäs won the game in overtime on a goal by Victor Berglind. Daniel Widing had scored 1-0 for Brynäs early in the first period. Mario Kempe tied it for MODO at 45:07 with a penalty shot goal. For the Brynäs goalie Robin Rahm it was the first game since he was suspended for doping.

Mat Robinson scored a power play goal for Timrå halfways through the first period of the away game against Rögle. It turned out to become the only goal of the game. Timrå’s Italien netminder Daniel Bellissimo made 28 saves.

Skellefteå surprised Frölunda with four goals in the first period. Frölunda never got close and Skellefteå could easily win the away game in Scandinavium 5-2. Rasmus Edström, George Holloway, Joakim Lindström, Erik Forsell and Oscar Lindberg scored for Skellefteå. Jari Tolsa and Henrik Tömmernes for Frölunda.
