All 12 teams in the Austrian-based multi-national EBEL played on Sunday. Newcomers Dornbirn and Innsbruck shared points with the better end for Dornbirn.

The Graz 99ers couldn't hold a two-goal lead after 30 minutes and lost in overtime against EC VSV. The guests from Villach are league leaders after two matchdays. Man of the match was Mario Altmann who earned a hat trick and also got the game winner for Villach in the 4th minute of overtime.

After winning in Salzburg on Friday, the Czech side Orli Znojmo gained another surprise win, this time against EC KAC. They sent their opponents with a clear 5-0 package at home. Peter Pucher and Jan Seda both earned a double while David Bartos had scored the 3-0 in between. Znojmo is now second, while the loss means a heavy setback for Klagenfurt after their season opener win in Linz.

A strong third-period finnish lets Vienna stay at the third spot. Against Hungarian side SAPA Fehervar AV19 Tony Romano, Zdenek Blatny and Francois Fortier turned around the initial lead of the Hungarians through Andras Horvath, in the last 20 minutes of play.

KHL Medvescak Zagreb lost their first match on home ice this season. Against Red Bull Salzburg the fans had to wait until the 34th minute when Tom Zanoski brought the hosts in front. Just six minutes later Matthias Trattnig used a power play to tie the game already. In the end the shootout had to give the decision and Andreas Kristler managed to give Salzburg the extra point.

Although Jaka Ankerst opened the score for Slovenian side Olimpija Ljubljana already in the fifth minute in a power play situaton, it was last year's champion Black Wings Linz that took over the iniative and earned a 3-1 lead even before the first intermission. After 33 minutes the lead was already 7-1, so that the home side could lean back and allowed another two goals for Ljubljana that didn't cause any pain in the solid home win - the first of the season for Linz after losing the home opener against EC KAC.

Last year Innsbruck and Dornbirn had only small competition in Natonalliga. On the second matchday both clubs faced for the first time in EBEL and had the opportunity to make up for losing the season opener on Friday. The guests from Dornbirn were a step ahead throughout the whole match and earned a lead in regulation four times without being able to get rid off Innsbruck. In the 58th minute Dale Mitchell scored the 4-5 but Francis Lemieux transformed a penalty shot with only ten seconds to go. This was his second strike of the day, also his team mate Alexander Höller scored a double. A crazy game ended when Luciano Aquino scored the game winner for Dornbirn at 60:38 to give his team them extra point and the first ever EBEL win.
