Game day 2 ends without any major surprise but Slovakia and the USA are now in real trouble to make it to the semifinals.

Group A:

Canada 7-5 Sweden

With the first puck drop Canada pulled ahead and took a 2-goal advantage to the end of the second minute. One of the goal scorers was Nathan MacKinnon who is considered to be one of the most talented kids of this tournament. But the Swedes tied it 10 minutes later with help of Fabian Gunnarson and Victor Öhman. Soon Canada made it 5-2 with 1+2 points by Max Domi. The Swedish national team made their best to catch fast Canada. With 5 minutes to play in the third Tobias Liljendahl created a nervous ending by making it 5-6. Max Domi decided the game at 59:52. 7-5 for Canada and 4 (2+2) points for Max Domi.

“It's frustrating for the kids because they're not doing that much wrong. We took some penalties we have to control and get away from and we're getting better. I thought we did a great job on our penalty kill and our power play got us going and you need those running at a high percentage to win this tournament” said Canadian team coach Todd Gill.

Slovakia 0-4 Suisse

Slovak junior hockey still had problems in the game for the 3rd position. In the Piestany group Slovakia conceded 4 goals and finished goalless. The Swiss team capitalized a 2-goal advantage in the first 20 minutes of the game: Patrick Brändli and Tim Wieser beat goalie Denis Godla. Brändli made a double in the first half of the second in a situation when the Suisse played with two players sitting in the penalty box. Xeno Büsser made it 4-0 and it was the last goal of the game. Swiss outshot the Slovakian team twice with a 24-12 score. 30 shots in two games, zero points and 11 conceded goals and the last place in the group before meeting a furious Canada.

Russia 6-1 Finland

In the first Grigory Dikushin opened the scoring then Finland got four power-play chances but they ended when Artyom Prokhorov scoring shorthanded. But the next Russian penalty was turned into a Finnish goal by Jonatan Tanus. In the other half of the game Russia gradually increased their lead to 6 goals with help from Viktor Shakhvorostov, Rinat Valiyev, Ivan Barbashyov and Nikolai Goldobin.

Czech 5-2 USA

Team USA is now close to not being in the semifinal games for the second tournament in a row. It could be sensational but Czech team overplayed USA in the second and third periods. Americans started well with a game-opener from Adam Erne at the 13th minute. One minute Czech team needed in the second to pull ahead. Martin Kokes and Miroslav Indrak beat Thatcher Demko. Game score started to change so quick in the third. Ondrej Kase scored twice to make it 4-1. Gabe Guertler answered on it, but Dominik Pokorny returned to his team the 3-goal lead.
