USA U17 undefeated at Five Nations

USA's Under-17 team beat Germany 6-2, Switzerland 5-0, Czech Republic 5-2 and Slovakia 4-2 to win the 5-nations tournament in Czech Republic undefeated.

On the last day Slovakia had a 2-0 lead over USA on two goals by Adrian Holesinsky, but the American's got 1-2 late in the second period when Dylan Pavelek scored shorthanded. USA won the third period 3-0 on goals by Seamus Malone, Joey Dudek and Austin Poganski.

"Our work ethic was second to none, and when you combine talent with work ethic, that's tough to beat", said American head coach Barry Smith to usahockey.com.

Switzerland needed a win over Czech Republic in the last game of the tournament to capture the second place - and they got a 3-2 win. The game was tied at one after two periods. At 49:05 Tino Kessler brought Switzerland ahead and at 58:41 Silvio Schmutz doubled the lead with an empty net-goal. Tomas Havlin scored for the Czechs 14 seconds later, but the equalizer didn't come.

Germany was the fifth team to participate in the tournament and they lost all four games.
