Berlin and Ingolstadt made the playoffs today - the second one even without having played themselves. München and Krefeld change positions with the Bavarians now out of the playoffs positions.

EHC München - Krefeld Pinguine 1:3

In the game between two direct competitors for the last preplayoff spot, München couldn't use its home advantage. Only five minutes were played when Pascal Trépanier opened the score for Krefeld in the powerplay. After a goalless middle period Daniel Pietta extended the guest lead again with a man advantage (46.). Only half a minute later Eric Schneider cut the lead to just one but at the end of the period it was again Méthot who decided the match in favour of the Penguins. One of the major problems München faced today was the accuricy in their attacks as Krefeld goalie Scott Langkow had 33 saves on 34 shots. In addition to that they forgave all their seven power play opportunites. Krefeld instead had three goals in 19 shots and had a 50 per cent power play rate.

Hannover Scorpions - DEG Metro Stars 2:4

In a close game Hannover could not stop their negative streak at home. Hannover only reacted when Connor James, Jeff Ulmer in power play and Daniel Kreutzer had earned a three-goal lead for Düsseldorf. At the beginning of the third Marvin Krüger brought the Scorpions on the scoreboard for the first time, followed by a goal by Patrick Buzas. With 51 seconds left to play Marco Nowak used the chance to decide the game for the Metro Stars with a shot into the empty net.

Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg - Kölner Haie 6:2

In recent weeks the Sharks from Cologne have been completely out of form and this should also continue in their away game against last year's DEL finalists Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg. Despite an early two-goal lead after Felix Schütz scored twice in the first period, they also lost today - and not by a small margin. Still in the first period Sebastian Furchner brought Wolfsburg back into the game. In the second David Laliberté and Colin Beardsmore could turn the game around completely, followed by another three in the last period where again Laliberté, Norm Milley and Adrian Foster let the result become clear.

Straubing Tigers - Hamburg Freezers 2:5

Two days after their away win in Cologne, the Straubing Tigers had a really weak start against Hamburg. The guests earned a solid three-goal lead already in the first period where Brett Engelhardt, Patrick Traverse and Jerome Flaake were succesful for the Freezers. In the following time the dominance of the guests decreased but Straubing had to wait until the 54th to get their first goal through Calvin Elfring. All hope was destroyed four minutes later by Engelhardt who scored a hattrick with an empty-netter nine seconds before the end of the third. In the meantime Bernhard Keil had made the result a bit more comfortable for the Tigers.

Iserlohn Roosters - Nürnberg Ice Tigers 5:0

Iserlohn earnd their fourth consecutive win to bring three points between themselves and the first non-playoff spot. Against second last Nürnberg they gave a great performance and get an easy home win. Robert Hock, Dave Spina, Michael Hackert, Christian Hommel and Colton Fretter scored a total of five goals against Ice Tigers goalie Andreas Jenike. On the other side Sébastien Caron had a good day and earned a shutout by making 42 saves.

Eisbären Berlin - Adler Mannheim 4:2

14.200 spectators came to a once more sold out O2 World to see the DEL classic between Eisbären Berlin and Adler Mannheim. After a goalless first period, Mannheim took over the initiative in the secod where they went in front two times through Denis Reul and Michael Glumac but Berlin twice found an answer within a minute through Florian Busch and Richie Regehr. In the fird period Berlin was the driving force but had to wait until the 58th minute where Darin Olver scored the game-winner for the Polar bears in a power play. A minute later André Rankel made everything clear to get Berlin a three-point lead over second-placed Ingolstadt. Mannheim fell back to the fouth place after Wolfsburgs win against Cologne.
