Torpedo and Avangard clinch 2nd places in their conferences

It’s already sure that in the first playoff round at the West SKA will face CSKA, Torpedo – Dinamo Riga, Dynamo Moscow – Dinamo Minsk, and Atlant will play again Severstal.

 
 
 
 
Avangard 5-2 Salavat Yulaev

Avangard clinched the second place at the East and the win in Chernyshov division after beating Salavat Yulaev at home 5-2. Ufa quickly took the lead with Viktor Kozlov''s goal at 52 seconds but after three minutes Avangard took turned the game around with goals by Martin Skoula and Anssi Salmela. To the end of the first they increased their lead when Alexander Nesterov made it 3-1. At 32:29 Antti Pihlstrom made it 3-2 when Ildar Isangulov earned his first KHL point by giving an assist in this play. Andrei Ivanov and Igor Volkov closed the game during the last minutes of the third to lead Avangard to the second place at the East.

Barys 3-4SO Severstal

Brendon Bochenski scored twice to take the lead in the sniper battle with 27 scored goals but these goals can’t help Barys to win Severstal at home. Vadim Shipachyov with his first goal of the game at 06:53 and a tie-breaker at 59:48 get the game into overtime. In the shootout series only Alexei Tsvetkov's shot was accurate and gave Severstal the win. In the last game of the regular season Severstal will try to get the home advantage in their series against Atlant while Barys will try to get the 6th place at the East.

Avtomobilist 4-5OT Vityaz

The two bottom clubs of the championship faced in Yekaterinburg. After the first period Avtomobilist led 3-0 with goals by Osipov, Velichkin and Loginov. Then Vityaz rallied from this deficit to make it 3-4! Dvurechensky, Troshchinsky, Khafizullin and Romanov scored; the two last scored their first goals of the season. At 55:55 Denis Abdullin tied the game which went into overtime where Yevgeny Timkin scored the time-breaker. Vityaz snapped Avtomobilist's two game winning streak where in both games Lobanov blanked the opposite teams.

Metallurg Mg 2-6 Ak Bars

The most surprising fixture happened in Magnitogorsk where home side Metallurg lost to Ak Bars 2-6. Dmitry Obukhov pulled Metallurg ahead in the first but in the second during a 15 minute span Ak Bars scored 4 times with goals by Medvedev, Bodrov, Morozov and Zaripov. In the third only the Finns scored - Jarkko Immonen and Niko Kapanen for Ak Bars and Juhamatti Aaltonen for Metallurg. In the last game of the regular season Ak Bars will try to reach the 3rd place at the East while Metallurg will try to secure it in the game against Salavat Yulaev.

Traktor 2-1 Spartak

A not very motivated Spartak came to Chelyabinsk where local Traktor is fighting for the Continental Cup. Raymond Giroux in power-play opened the scoring at 03:51. Only 46 minutes later Anton Glinkin doubled Traktor's advantage. Anatoly Nikontsev used a pass from Yegor Mikhailov to close the game with a 2-1 score for Traktor. In the last game of the regular season Traktor will face with Severstal and in case of a victory they will win the regular championship.

Yugra 4-5OT Neftekhimik

Neftekhimik took a lead 4 times but managed to beat Yugra only in overtime. It began in the first when Kvasha opened the score, Skorokhodov tied, continued in the second when Lemtyugov returned a lead, Demagin tied. In the third Pestushko made it 2-3, Kirill Dyakov with his first KHL goal tied it, Milovzorov pulled Neftekhimik ahead, but Demagin tied the game again. At 61:14 Denis Arkhipov ended the game with his accurate shot that led Neftekhimik to a win which doesn’t have any importance for them.

Atlant 2-1SO Sibir

Atlant beat Sibir only in shootout and will face in the first playoff round Severstal like last season but which team will begin this round at home is still the question. Branko Radivojevic in power-play grabbed a lead for Atlant which was cut also in power-play by Alexander Suglobov at 50:37. In the shootout series Alexei Kovalev and Dmitry Upper beat Bernd Bruckler, when Konstantin Barulin denied both shots.

SKA 5-2 Amur

After the first period it seemed that SKA will give the Continental Cup to Traktor this night. It was 1-2 with Petr Prucha's goal for SKA and Alexander Osipov, Dmitry Tarasov shots for Amur when Patrick Thoresen scored twice to give SKA a lead. Prucha and Klimenko increased it to a 3-goal lead and 5-2 score which helps SKA to be still in the battle for the win of the regular championship.

Torpedo 5-2 HC Lev

Torpedo clinched the 2nd place at the West and the win in the Tarasov Division. After a nice sole move early in the first Robert Nilsson opened the scoring. Ales Jezek tied it 20 minutes later after a pass from Karl Fabricius. With two goals in the end of the second from Dmitry Makarov, Sergei Rozin Torpedo earned a comfortable lead. At 23 seconds of the third Lubos Bartecko tried to return HC Lev to the game with his lone goal. Maxim Potapov was first on the rebound after Romanovsky shot to make 4-2 at 47:08. Ryan Vesce with a nice wrister closed the game 2 minutes later. In the first playoff round Torpedo will face Dinamo Riga.

Dynamo Msk 3-4SO Dinamo Mn

These teams will face each other in the first playoff round but now they played first in the regular championship. In the first 14 minutes the teams scored 5 times and the team from Belarus had a lead. Moscow Dynamo got a lead twice with goals by Konkov and Volkov, but Kitarov, Laine and Irgl earned a lead for Minsk Dinamo. With 6:03 to play in the third Denis Tolpeko managed to tie the game. Jeoff Platt in the 4th shootout round won the game for Dinamo Minsk. Lars Haugen who returned to the squad before this game stoned 34 shots and denied 3 shots in the shootout round.

Dinamo Riga 4-1 Metallurg Nk

Dinamo Riga beat Metallurg Nk at home 4-1. But first Metallurg got a lead early in the second with a power-play goal by Vladimir Loginov. During a 8 seconds span Dinamo turned the game into their account with two goals from Mikelis Redlihs and Marcel Hossa at 32:00 and 32:08. Alexander Nizivijs scored in the power-play to make the Dinamo advantage more comfortable. Roberts Bukarts with 1:43 to play closed the game with a 4-1 score.
